Wide-neck bottles are also called wide-mouth bottles because they offer a wider, sloped nipple that is shaped like a breast. This makes them great for breastfed babies and babies with a wider latch.

Standard and wide are terms used to describe the width of bottle parts. Standard nipples fit into standard cap rings (collars) that screw onto standard bottles. Wide nipples fit into wide cap rings that screw onto wide bottles. Standard nipples are sometimes called narrow because they are less wide as other bottles.

A good rule of thumb is to make sure your bottle of choice is BPA-free. Bottle shapes are generally standard (tall and straight), angled (bent at the neck), and wide (designed to hold wide, short nipples that mimic a breast). Bottles come in small 125 ml (4 oz) or large 250ml (8 oz).

If your baby makes gulping and sputtering sounds during feedings and milk tends to dribble out of the corners of her mouth, the flow of the bottle nipple is probably too fast. If she seems to work very hard at sucking and acts frustrated, the flow might be too slow.

• Sealed lips is the easiest way to try to prevent gas in babies and  to minimize the amount of air they’re swallowing. 
• Tilt the bottle. Bottles create a unique opportunity for air intake.
• Burp the baby. Burp your baby both during and after feeding. 
• Eat differently.

When the baby begins to nurse, they stimulate the release of oxytocin, which causes the milk to let down. In some cases, this process can take a few minutes. If baby gets impatient, they may start to squirm.

Excessive burping  indicate that your baby is swallowing too much air from feeding or crying. Spitting up (while typically completely normal) may be  a sign of gas build up within the stomach. Trapped gas bubbles can push some breastmilk back up.

Clicking is caused whenever there is a loss of suction. This can happen both at the breast or on the bottle.
