- Do minimize first-degree burns with antibiotic ointment and loosely cover with gauze.
- Do rinse the burn with water but don’t use ice or ice water

For the first several days after the incident, cover your burn to allow your skin to recover. Make sure the blisters on your skin remain sealed off. If a blister pops open, wrap the burn with a bandage right once to avoid getting an infection.
