• Cradle your baby. When you think of holding a newborn baby, you probably envision yourself cradling them in the nook of your arm.
• Position your sitting comfortably for feeding. 
• Rest baby on your legs. 
• Use a feeding pillow.

The nipple should have milk at the tip, but you do not need to tip the bottle to fill the nipple chamber with milk. In fact, sucking on an empty nipple will not automatically fill your baby with gas and sucking on air does not mean swallowing air.

A bottle-feeding should take about 15-20 minutes. If the baby finishes the bottle in 5-10 minutes, the flow is likely to be fast. If it takes your baby 30-45 minutes to take a bottle, the flow is too slow. Consider changing the bottle and nipple to meet your baby’s needs

Newborn babies generally feed between 10 and 14 times in 24 hours, with feeds becoming a little less frequent as they grow. If you are exclusively bottle feeding your baby, whether formula or expressed breastmilk, you might want around four to six bottles and teats to get you started

• Closing their mouth.
• Turning their head away from your breast or their bottle.
• Ignoring the bottle or your breast.
• Slowing down or falling asleep during a feed.
• Relaxing their hands.

• Wash your hands with soapy water and dry with a clean towel.
• Check teats for any cracks. 
• Wash all bottle-feeding equipment in hot, soapy water.
• Use a bottle brush to scrub inside bottles and teat. 
• Squirt water through teats to clear the little hole.
• Rinse everything thoroughly.
