FAQ
A slow-flow nipple is best for breastfed babies because it best mimics the natural flow of milk from the breast. A wide-neck nipple base may work for some babies but most have a hard time getting their small mouths around them
The main types of baby bottle nipples are as follows:
- Silicone.
- Latex.
- Traditional or standard.
- Breast mimicking or naturally-shaped.
- Orthodontic.
- Anti-vacuum or vented.
- Variable flow or multi-flow.
- Nipples for babies with a cleft lip.
Slow, medium and fast are the different flow rate of nipples.
Nipple levels differ based on flow rate (how quickly your baby can get milk). Young babies take in smaller amounts at a time, so they need nipples with slower flow. These level one nipples tend to mimic breastfeeding because they require similar muscles.
PUR baby nipples are made from silicone. Silicone nipples lasts longer compared to latex nipples.
Use hot, soapy water and a nipple and bottle brush. Scrub the bottle and nipple well, inside and out. Make sure to thoroughly clean all grooves on both the plastic ring and the bottle. Rinse in warm tap water
It’s best to change bottle nipples every 3 months to ensure they remain in good condition. If you spot a crack anywhere, you’ll need to change it over straight away.
For extra germ removal, sanitize feeding items at least once daily. Sanitizing is particularly important when your baby is younger than 2 months, was born prematurely, or has a weakened immune system
Check bottle nipples often (at least every two to three months) for these signs of wear and tear: Breast milk or formula pours out in a stream. Liquid should drip steadily out of the nipple. If it comes rushing out, the hole is too big and the nipple should be replaced
Before the first use, sterilize nipples and bottles in boiling water for 5 minutes. After that, you don’t have to sterilize your baby’s bottles and supplies each time you feed your baby. Wash bottles and nipples in hot, soapy water (or in the dishwasher) after every use.Sterilize every week by boiling in water.
Slow-flow nipples sometimes can cause babies to take in extra air during feedings, which cause gas. Make sure your baby has a good latch when bottle feeding to reduce gas later on
Food-grade silicone is a non-toxic polymer mostly made from silica (sand), which is lightweight, soft like rubber and does not break, making it the perfect material for eco-friendly baby bottles. Unlike plastic, it can withstand heating and freezing without leaching harmful chemicals that will contaminate the milk.
