Directions for Use
Applying the medical compression stockings:
- Slide the stockings onto your arms with hand reaching the heel area holding the extra heel material.
- Turn the stockings inside out till the heel broaden the mouth of the fabric cave.
- Put your foot into the toe of the stocking, and gently slide the stocking over your heel.
- Then use your fingertips or palms to slide the stocking up your leg.
Removing the compression stockings:
- Grab the socks at the upper part by the fabric, and not the elastic band.
- Slowly invert the sock down your leg.
- Once the sock is rolled past your ankle, you can either keep rolling it down, or you can remove it like a regular sock by pulling outward from the toe part.

Compression stockings can be worn for sports recovery, daily wear, medical recovery, and to manage mild symptoms of varicose and spider veins.
The benefit occurs when you’re up and moving, and gravity is working on your veins. When you’re lying down, you take away the effect of gravity. So there’s no reason to wear compression socks when lying down or sleeping.
A compression garment should not be worn in the case of circulation disorders in leg arteries or for those with serious heart conditions. Caution is also recommended in the case of sensory impairments due to diabetes and neuropathy (nerve damage).
Compression socks can significantly reduce the progression of some conditions by improving blood flow in the legs. The body’s blood flows from the heart to the rest of the body and back again.
Stockings should feel snug, but not painfully tight. Mild compression, with lower numbers, is usually enough to keep you comfortable on your feet at work. You’ll need higher numbers with a firmer fit to prevent DVT.
Take the ankle measurement above the ankle bone at the narrowest part of the ankle. The calf length is measured from the floor near your heel to the start of the knee on the backside of your leg.
These stockings are commonly referred to as TED hose, short for thromboembolism-deterrent hose. They are used to support the venous and lymphatic drainage of the leg.
